Big reboot news! Warner Bros is busy trying to bring Ryan Gosling and his frequent collaborator, director Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson, Drive), together for the Logan's Run remake. Which means, this reboot might actually have more than a snowball's chance in hell at being awesome.
Deadline is reporting the news that the indie movie star, Gosling, is ready to make the big jump to a massive studio tent-pole production in Logan's Run, and he's bringing his favorite indie director along with him. If all goes as planned the two will reunite to bring Alex Garland's script (which was finished about a year ago) to life. It should be interesting to see how these two deal with big budget and big studio issues, but fingers crossed something really fresh and exciting comes out of this pairing.
Garland's script is allegedly similar to the original novel. Gosling will play the 5, the Sandman who is charged with hunting down all the futuristic "runners." And going by Gosling's current age, we're assuming that the death age will be upped to 30 in this film version, as it was in the '76 flick for Michael York.
