While the world wonders where Torchwood can go after the dramatic Children of Earth mini-series, one man has a clear vision of the future of the Doctor Who spin-off. Luckily, that man is executive producer Russell T. Davies.

Talking to Torchwood Magazine, Davies said,

I could write you scene one of series four right now... I know exactly how to pick it up. I've got a shape in mind, and I've got stories. I know where you'd find Gwen and Rhys, and their baby, and Jack, and I know how you'd go forward with a new form of Torchwood.

That "new form," however, doesn't necessarily mean that a format for the next season has been decided upon, according to the creator:

If the BBC asked for another 13 one-part stories, that's what we'd do... I'm ready for anything, but I think it works well as one continuous story. But if the BBC decide they want 13 one-offs, I'll suddenly decide that's the best format in the world!

The full interview can be found in #17 of the magazine, released August 20th in the UK and September 15th in the US.

I liked Torchwood and Children of Earth was a fine piece of television but I think the concept of a guy that cannot die protecting the Earth while the Dr. is out doing other stuff is wide open for possibilities. Keep Gwen and her family but make the stories bigger and make Torchwood bigger. It used to have lots of agents and government support. Why can't they do that again. I was getting tired of the five soldiers living in a pit under the rift. I would love to see Jack controlling a whole agency of alien fighters.
