Captain Marvel

The February issue of OK magazine claims that Marvel are very keen to get Angelina Jolie as the director for their first female-led movie, citing her work on Unbroken as well as the need for a woman's insight in bringing Carol Danvers to the big screen. [Spoiler TV]

The Lego Movie 2

We knew the sequel to The Lego Movie would introduce more female characters, and apparently one of them will be Emmet's sister — and according to a Q&A from Chris Miller and Phil Lord, it will see Emmet and his sister exploring a dystopian version of Bricksburg a few years after the events of the first movie. Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

James Gunn recently opened up about where he wants to take the sophomore outing for the Guardians, and how it won't really be based on any of their comic book stories:

It's not really based on anything. The story for Guardians 2 is an original story that I came up with that I started working on actually while I was shooting Guardians 1, and it'll answer some of the questions that were put forth in the first movie about Peter Quill's father and who he is and what's going on with that. We'll get to know some of the characters a little bit more and then we're going to meet a couple of new characters who will be very important to Guardians movies and probably important to the Marvel Universe as a whole.

It's different than what's in the comic books. Peter Quill's father is somebody different in the comics. So then when the movie came out, we got green-lit on the sequel right away. I went in and I sat down with those guys and I'm like, 'Okay, here's what I think the sequel should be.' And they were like, 'Oh, whoa. That's risky, but okay.' Now I'm going to turn over the story in a few short weeks and we'll find out how well it works.

Fox purportedly has a shortlist for the female lead for the movie - Morena Baccarin, Sarah Green, Jessica De Gouw, Taylor Schilling, Crystal Reed and Rebecca Rittenhouse. [ Deadline]

The Bad Batch

Jason Momoa is in talks to join this post-apocalyptic movie about cannibals. [ The Wrap]

Universal Monsters

Luke Evans has been talking about his interpretation of Dracula, and how he'd like the role to develop in Universal's planned 'shared universe' of Horror icons - check it out in this exclusive interview with Coming Soon.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Here's yet another boatload of promo art for the movie, giving us more Hulkbuster, more Ultron, and more tantalising looks at the Vision (who we've yet to actually see footage of, nothing but merchandise art!) - there's a lot more here. [Facebook]

Star Wars/Indiana Jones

While talking to Comic Book, Director Matthew Vaughn talked about his desires to direct a future entry in not one, but two of Disney's Lucasfilm properties - Star Wars or Indiana Jones:

" If someone offered me Star Wars or Indiana Jones I would be very interested," said Vaughn. "When you're the director, you just don't know. Something clicks and you go, 'Yup, I wanna go make that story,' so never say, 'never,' to anything but right now I'm in the world of Kingsman so it's really hard to think about anything else."

Considering those rumors about Disney looking at a Chris Pratt-led reboot for Indy, Vaughn could put himself up for the job! [Comic Book]

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

In an Interview with the L.A Times primarily about his cameo role in Kingsman: The Secret Service, Mark Hamill also covered the fan excitement for the movie, as well as reiterating that, despite the presence of Han, Luke and Leia in the new movies, The Force Awaken's focus is primarily on the new cast:

It had a beginning, a middle and an end for me. It was nice, but it was over. I didn't have a problem with the prequels because it was like they're playing with my toys but I'm not in the rec room anymore. I've moved out of the house. I didn't feel possessive of it in any way, shape or form. The same when they were planning this third set of stories. I would have been completely OK with it not including us, but I do think having the original cast members there gives it a sense of continuity and scope. But mind you, it's really about the new generation, it's not about us.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Thor Director Kenneth Branagh has expressed a renewed interest on working with Marvel again in the future - perhaps on Thor: Ragnarok, but maybe even something else:

I continue to have good relationships with all my Marvel family. It's a people game the movie game, and although these films are big articulated lorries, they still have to be driven by real people. I fondly remember good times working on Thor. So you always look to repeat that kind of thing, and if it happened again, I'd be delighted.

Star Wars Rebels

It's long been rumored that beloved Clone Wars character Ahsoka Tano could show up again in the current cartoon series, but the latest is word is that she won't be making an appearance this season - she'll be a guest star in the second season's première, which will also feature Emperor Palpatine and the return of James Earl Jones as Darth Vader. It would definitely be interesting to see what happens if/when Ahsoka encounters Vader.

The rumor about her involvement also pegs Ahsoka as the main cast's shadowy ally Fulcrum - someone whom many fans have already suspected as being Tano - after a french dubbing site for Ahsoka's french voice actress added the show to her résumé crediting Fulcrum to her. But as this is all rumor for the moment, take it with a pinch of salt. []

Here's an advance preview for the next episode, talking about the pivotal events that will create the Bat-villain Jonathan Crane, a.k.a Scarecrow:

Like I stated earlier, this week's case is a continuation of last week, where our killer, Dr. Gerald Crane is killing victims by playing on their phobias and then removing their adrenal glands. If the name Dr. Crane sounded familiar, it's because it is the surname of future bat-baddy The Scarecrow, Jonathan Crane. We met Jonathan last week when his father was taking another victim while he played lookout for the cops. This week we see a lot more of the father-son duo outside of their murder spree, we see them going after what Dr. Crane really wants, to be free of fear. That's what makes this case so good this week, it's essentially the origin story of the Scarecrow. It's quite amazing watching it unfold before your eyes and is one of the show's finer moments. We are still watching and waiting for Selina to become Catwoman, for Ed to become the Riddler, for Oswald to become the Penguin. This week we practically see what causes Jonathan to be the Scarecrow.

The Walking Dead

Andrew Lincoln briefly touched on some emotionally taxing moments in the second half of the show's fifth season, which premièred yesterday:

What you'll find in the back eight [episodes] is that people are reeling. They reach probably their lowest ebb in Episode 10, which is an extraordinary moment in the show. It's probably the lowest point all of us will reach.

Angelina Jolie would be a whole different league from what you normally expect with Marvel. I'd figure if they want a female director who has experience directing a female perspective, they'd get someone like Karyn Kusama (Girlfight and Jennifer's Body), Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), Ana Lily Armapour (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night) or Lake Bell (...In A World).
