We were pretty excited to see Robert Rodriguez sign on to take the helm of the long-simmering film adaptation of Battle Angel Alita. Now, the project has cast its lead actress: Rosa Salazar.

According to Collider, Salazar will be playing Alita, an amnesiac cyborg who becomes a bounty hunter after being discovered in a landfill by a doctor. The story follows her journey as she attempts to discover who she was. Salazar recently made a name for herself in The Divergent Series: Insurgent and in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and was one of the final three choices to lead the film.

Despite the casting news, there’s no word on when the film will enter production, although this does appear to be a positive step in that direction.

In Zeus’ name why? He’s a subpar writer and director lacking the focus to bring an idea to completion, instead throwing something new at the wall every five mintues without waiting to see if the previous idea stuck. Why you would want him in charge of something you loved is beyond me.
