Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Right now, it’s a crazy scientist and his grandson, and also Prince Namor and Aquaman. Things got a little weird.
Vulture asked the team behind Rick and Morty, currently in its third season, to improvise a scene where travel to Bikini Bottom, the underwater haven of Spongebob Squarepants. While Spongebob himself looks like an abomination from hell in this animation, he’s actually barely in it. Instead, the focus is on Rick and Morty trying to break up a Sponge clone couple who (along with hundreds of other Sponge clones) are heading to the Spongedome for unexplained reasons.
There’s also some time travel back to the 1970s, a chance encounter with some underwater Marvel and DC beefcakes, and a surprise visit from a tied-up Summer. Why is she tied up? Well, that flashback to the 1970s can explain it! Check out the video below.
