“Now this is a story all about how/My life got flipped turned upside down.” Or at least it could be. The House of Mouse wants the man who played Deadshot in Suicide Squad to grant wishes.

Deadline reports that Disney is in talks with Will Smith to be the genie in the live-action Aladdin project being directed by Guy Ritchie. If the deal happens, Smith would be following in the large, intimidating footsteps of Robin Williams, whose manic portrayal of the blue-skinned djinn made the character beloved for a whole generation. With Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast already profitable ventures, Disney’s plans to remake many of its modern animated hits into live-action affairs are well underway. A big name like Smith’s could make Aladdin even more successful.

Video games. Comic books. Blackness.

I’m actually into this idea. Will Smith is at his best when he is being goofy. Yeah, he has some good drama roles but let’s face it he is funny. He would make a good Genie and would make the character enough his own to differentiate himself from Robin Williams. As long as Aladdin isn’t his son I don’t think there would be a problem with this.
