SPOILERS WITHIN

Anyone else feel like this Emo Jon thing is really more about how the actor portrays him in the show and not so much related to his character in the books?

In the books he's kind of a bummer but he's got kind of a shitty lot in life - bastard son, hated by his would-be mother, father he loved, and also coincidentally the only person who could have told him who his mother was, murdered. Torn between duty to his sworn brothers and duty to his family. I think the way he acts in the books is a pretty reasonable response to all that.
