Based on a true story, Pioneer follows about a team of Norwegian divers who were subjected to risky experiments at the birth of the Norwegian oil-drilling industry in the early 1980s. We have an exclusive look at the new poster from Magnolia Pictures.

Pioneer is set in the early 1980's, at the beginning of the Norwegian Oil Boom when enormous oil and gas deposits were discovered in the North Sea. Authorities aim to bring the oil ashore and Petter, a professional diver, has the discipline, strength and courage to take on the world's most dangerous mission. But a sudden, tragic accident changes everything. Petter is sent on a perilous journey and gradually, he realizes that he is in way over his head and that his life is at stake.

This reminds me of when I was 10 and my best friend's hippy parents took us to see The Big Blue in the theater and it scared the living fuck out of me. I have to say though, I can't be happy enough with the idea of Norwegian thriller where corrupt American oil executives are the bad guys. "Now, you just lissen here, Olaf. Ain't no way yer gonna come' into our saloon and give us the stinkeye."
