Well, thank the Machine for this: CBS has given Person of Interest a truncated fifth season. Which is great news since the season four finale did not end in a good place for our team.
The fifth season is said to be thirteen episodes, rather than the usual 22 or 23. This smacks of CBS giving the show time and notice to plan a fit finale. Deadline says that, although the network won’t confirm that this is the final season, that’s more than likely the case. Unless it somehow becomes a massive money-making hit for the network in those thirteen episodes.
This is so much better than canceling the show outright or stringing the show’s team along. Person of Interest has always done a great job of planning out its seasons, so going into this knowing it’s the last gives them license to pull out all the stops. Well, the ones that are left after the last episode.
