Horror directors and sister movie-making team Jen and Sylvia Soska are currently busy at work adapting the violent, ass-kicking, foulmouthed Painkiller Jane series into a movie. And they promise it's not going to be your run-of-the-mill Marvel movie.
In an interview with Crave Online, the Soska Sisters (American Mary) discussed their plans for Painkiller Jane (a comic which was created by Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada and was previously was a very watered down Syfy show).
The first thing the duo promised was an R-rating:
"It has to be an R-rated character... because when you come to a character like Jane, she drinks, she fights, she fucks, she talks like you and I talk, and that's an important part of her character."
Good, I'm ready for a bloody woman-led ass-kicking movie. Give me Tank Girl with more blood!. The directors also addressed the fact that this violent character has a bad history of being "watered down." NO MORE.
"And this is the third shot. There's a Made-for-TV movie, there's a TV series, and they kept watering her down, watering her down, watering her down," [Sylvia Soska reminds us.] "Jen and I are not going to let that happen, and Jimmy Palmiotti – who is also one of the producers – he's not going to let that happen. The producers of this movie they're all… There are some scenes in this movie, there's no way they're not going to slap us with an R. Once you see it, it's going to just be batshit crazy."
And their big plans don't end with one movie. At the end of the interview, the duo revealed that they want to make two more Painkiller Jane movies on top of this one. But let's just hope the first one is good, first. Read the full interview over at Crave Online.
