One of the past decade's most underrated novels is now a short film

We really liked Matthew De Abaitua's creepy, insane novel Red Men, which was shortlisted for the Clarke Award but otherwise hasn't gotten the attention it deserved. And now, at last, it's become a short film called Dr. Easy, which could lead to a full-length feature.

This beautiful short film was just posted over at, and it was written and directed by Jason Groves, Richard Kenworthy and Christopher Harding. Here's the official synopsis:

Michael is a broken man with a gun. He is surrounded by armed police. A robot with medical training is dispatched to negotiate – but can it save him?

Dr. Easy is a prologue for a planned feature adaptation of 'The Red Men'.

The designs in this movie look amazing. Love those bendy robots! Let's hope we get to see the full-length movie soon.

A Shynola film? At least it's not a "Shit" film.

Also, don't trust whitey, and see a doctor and get rid of it.
