Trying to choose your favorite episode of Bruce Timm and Paul Dini’s Batman: The Animates Series isn’t easy, but “Almost Got ‘Im”, where Gotham’s villains trade stories about almost defeating Batman over a game of poker, is often considered one of the best. Now this specific episode has been transformed into a new card game that has players trying to uncover which poker-playing villain is actually Batman in disguise.
Based on a popular party game often referred to as Mafia or Werewolf, the card game sees five to eight players take on the roles of infamous Gotham villains like the Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, and Killer Croc—but, like in the episode, one of them is secretly Batman. Depending on their role, the game has players either trying to reveal the Dark Knight, or covertly take out Gotham’s bad guys.
Almost Got ‘Im also pays homage to the Batman: The Animated Series episode that inspired it by having players trying to create poker hands that give them each special abilities towards winning the game. The added poker element, played with an actual 52-card deck, helps increase suspicions, tension, and paranoia as the game plays out, which is exactly how Batman would want it to. The game is available now for about $20 at the link below.
