Once, She Was Princess Buttercup. Now, She's Only Fit To Be Digitized.

What happens to Robin Wright from The Princess Bride when she gets too old to be an ingenue? Find out, in this wonderfully sardonic clip from The Congress, the new movie from Waltz With Bashir director Ari Folman — exclusively at io9.

In The Congress, as you can see in our exclusive clip, Robin Wright gets offered the last deal she'll ever get: She gets digitized and scanned, and turned into a computer avatar, who can act in films forever. But the real Robin Wright must agree never to act again. Twenty years later, she attends the Futurological Congress, where she's offered a second, even more bizarre, deal. This is loosely based on The Futurological Congress by Stanislaw Lem. The Congress currently has an enviable 86 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Congress is available on iTunes and VOD this Monday, July 14th, and in theaters on August 29th.

Ghost in the Machine

Poor Robin Wright. Too bad she can't get any work. It really sucks to be old and washed up.
