Oh God, Heroes Reborn Is Already Getting Really Pretentious

I have a bad feeling about Heroes Reborn. This is likely because I watched all four seasons of the original series, which would make anyone depressed and apprehensive. But this portentous and pretentious new promo for the show is not making me feel any better — nor is the slow acoustic version of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters.”

I understand the power of asking “Where are the Heroes?” — presuming that Reborn is set in a world where the titular Heroes disappeared after Claire revealed her invincible cheerleader powers at the circus — but as a viewer, I have to ask, who cares where they went? Hiro had not been a part of any season’s main plot since the first one; Sylar spent his time devoted to finding surrogate fathers and having daddy issues with them; Ali Larter kept showing up as identical sisters; Peter was... I don’t even know what Peter was doing. And those where the main characters? Has light-shooting cello lady disappeared? What about that comic shop kid who could breathe underwater? What about all the terrible circus characters? Where have they gone?!

If Heroes Reborn has the answer, I don’t want to know.
