One of the many dissapointments of M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender movie was that the (mostly white) actors looked nothing like the characters they were supposed to portray. These portraits of the Avatar and Legend of Korra characters imagine how the characters might actually look in real life.
Rhode Island School of Design student Marisha Lozada has been working on a series of realistic Avatar portraits, which she posts at her blog Korra Quality. (She also takes commissions for drawings in a variety of styles.) Up top, she imagines Toph and Katara in formal Earth Kingdom attire (and she has Toph and Katara with their more familiar hairstyles on her blog).
