Back in the 1960s and 1970s, Hollywood pushed the envelope in terms of weird "futuristic" costumes — just look at Zardoz and Logan's Run. But these days, apart from the odd extra in the Hunger Games, the movies are tame. And the real strange futuristic garb appears on fashion runways.

The other day, at the Mercedes-Benz show in Madrid, designer Maya Hansen rolled out a slew of new fashions. Including weird "wings" with frameworks of lacey piping. And scary/surreal masks with see-thru material over the faces. Also, some really epic capes. These outfits are gorgeous, but also a little unnerving. Like, you could see these being a race of somewhat fetishy aliens in a late-1970s Doctor Who or something.
