Finally! A trailer for Ang Lee's Life of Pi that takes us outside of the relationship between the boy and his tiger. The latest look at this creative film shows how a the main character ends up stranded on a wild island a host of wild fantasy creatures (and meerkats)!

Bringing Yann Martel‘s novel to life, Ang Lee cast Suraj Sharma in the role of Pi, a boy whose family zoo is lost at sea. He winds up stranded on a boat with a tiger, so times are tough for Pi. But there's so much more to this story, including wild creatures and a bit of magic. And this trailer finally shows that off.

Life of Pi will hit theaters on November 21, 2012. Fingers crossed it all comes together as beautifully as it does in these short bursts.

I'd like to hear what folks who have read this book think it's subtext is. Not to get to English Majory (which I'm not, both degrees in Computer Science) but it seems like it was kinda sorta about comparative religion.

Yeah, crazy talk, I know.
