Nathan Fillion To Play Ant-Man? We're Not Getting Our Hopes Up

While we really want to believe the rumors that Nathan Fillion will be playing Ant-Man in the Edgar Wright film, we're not 100% convinced. But weigh the evidence yourself: Is Captain Hammer finally getting his big-screen superhero debut?

Marvelous News has been gathering information on the next Marvel movies, including who will play the remaining Avengers. While uncovering some clues as to which comics character actor Kevin Pennington will play, they stumbled across something much, much bigger, and infinitely more exciting from a unnamed source:

Nathan Fillion is pretty much locked to be Henry Pym [Ant-Man], and should be announced before any other new additions to the cast (think around Comic Con).

But before you get your hopes raised too high, we're not completely convinced that this is a completely solid rumor. Especially since the director Edgar Wright told The Playlist Nation that this was all news to him. But like he'd admit it, and spoil the big Comic Con reveal, right...right?

Even if it's not true, you can't deny that Fillion deserves his time in the comic book movie spotlight. He's been so close so many times before, and that jawline was just made for a Marvel hero. Give him Ant-Man — he can easily balance the humor of Henry Pym, along with the sheer might of his mighty ant strength.

Plus with Whedon directing the Avengers film, this whole rumor does make a little sense. We'd like to think that Whedon has a some pull, and it's no secret he loves to double dip in the Whedonverse casting pool quite often.

As for the actor Pennington, who was mention earlier, Marvelous' News source explains he "will be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, but also a fan favorite character from the comics" but "the origin may be changed to fit in the movie, and [this character] may never have been in S.H.I.E.L.D. or Avengers in the comics."

Question from person who knows little to nothing about the Avengers: Who are the villains?

It would seem like if you were gonna tie these movie together, you would start planting seeds of uber-villains.

Haven't seen Iron Man 2, so I can't speak to that, but the Hulk movie had the dude from O Brother Where Art Thou turning into something and I can't remember if Abomination was dead.

Anyway, my question is: Who are the big heavies in the Avengers universe?
