Must-see movies are futuristic classics that shouldn't be missed. Of course, not every must-see is perfect. That's why we've rated them 1-5 on the patented "crunchy goodness" scale. Written by James Rocchi.

Title: Aliens
Date: 1986

Vitals: How do you follow up a sci-fi/horror hybrid? You don't — James Cameron's return to Sigourney Weaver's trials and tribulations in the future's an amped-up take on a thousand war movies. A crew of beleaguered B-movie Space Marines and Weaver go back to where it all began to learn a few lessons about motherhood and firepower — and while there's plenty of smarts in the script, the action and tension never let up.

Famous Names: James Cameron (Director) Sigourney Weaver, Bill Paxton, Michael Biehn (Cast).

Crunchy Goodness: 5

Sequels: Alien 3, Alien 4 and Alien Vs. Predator demonstrate the law of diminishing returns in spectacular fashion.

Bang For Your Buck: Sigourney Weaver, packing heavy iron, taking on the worst mom in the universe: "Get away from her, you bitch. ..."

Life Lessons: Don't trust the oily, unctuous company representative who promises — promises — that he's going to do the right thing if there are, in fact, signs of alien life at the corporations' remote terraforming outpost.
