We won't have to wait long for Steven Spielberg's Minority Report TV show, because Fox just picked up this series. Plus we've got plot point details!

Deadline is reporting that Fox has purchased the series with a "put pilot" deal, meaning this is most definitely happening or Fox will have to pay out a whole lot of money. But when does the series fall in with the Tom Cruise-starring film? According to Deadline, it's set years after the film. Here's the alleged synopsis:

"The series is envisioned as a sequel to the movie. It is set 10 years after the end of Precrime in DC. One of the three Precogs struggles to lead a "normal" human life, but remains haunted by visions the future, when he meets a detective haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose to his gift."

Godzilla writer Max Borenstein will executive produce with Amblin Television. We've got our fingers crossed for this one.

'K, here's my pitch: Instead of 10 years after the movie, do it 10 years before. Show how society - both willingly and by indifference - created the environment where people allowed government to imprison citizens based on secret technology and assumptions with little to no trial. Tell the story about the rise of high-tech, over-equipped police forces operating with impugnity and the tacit permission granted to them by a compliant mass media and largely apathetic public.

Yeah, yeah, that's just tonight's evening news - but my show would have more lasers.
