Transformers director Michael Bay was so excited to kick the sequel's marketing into high gear, he decided to throw down a gauntlet at the feet of McG, the director of Terminator Salvation.

Writes Bay:

We've waited low in the weeds letting all the summer movies get their stuff out. We've seen the great year end movies, and watched the upcoming clips of the upcoming summer fare. We've seen certain movies coming out even try to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads. Please, come on.

Well, I promise you we will rock your world with Transformers 2. The fans wanted ROBOTS KICKING ASS - well we got it.

Is there any movie he could possibly be referring to besides Terminator 4 here? I mean, Knight Rider has been shamelessly stealing from Transformers for ages, but that's a TV show.

The real question is, will this lead to another boxing match challenge for Bay, along the lines of the Uwe Boll kerfuffle a while back? Who you got? More importantly, does Bay sorta have a point here? [ShootForTheEdit]
