Marvel's Ultimate universe isn't dying, but it is definitely different

Marvel revealed their post-Cataclysm plans for the Ultimate universe, and they are a doozy.. The line will be relaunched with three new titles — Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate FF, and All-New Ultimates — but "all-new" in this case is not just a marketing gimmick, it's the truth.

If you'll recall, currently the regular Marvel universe's Galactus is currently munching on the Ultimate universe, and Ultimate Capatin America and Ultimate Thor and the rest of the Ultimates are ultimately trying to stop him. I'm pretty sure we can figure out how Cataclysm ends, as the members of the All-New Ultimates include Miles Morales, Kitty Pryde, Bombshell, Black Widow (originally Spider-Woman), and Cloak and Dagger. That's... that's quite different.

The Ultimate FF — which will stand for Future Foundation, not Fantastic Four — includes Sue Storm, Tony Stark and two other Marvel geniuses, one of which is "a psychopath," according to writer Joshua Fialkov.

I was excited at the prospect that Marvel might have the guts to destroy the Ultimate universe, as the comics have certainly served their time. But if all the regular Ultimates are dead (and stay dead) and this is genuinely the new status quo, I'd definitely be willing tio stick around and see where this goes.
