Brian K. Vaughan's The Runaways could be the superhero movie we've been waiting for, thanks to its relatable teen characters and cool premise. The bad news is, Marvel's put this film on hold. Why? Blame The Avengers.

Runaways, an awesome comic by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, follows a pack of teens who discover that their parents are part of an evil league of supervillains (called The Pride). In response, the rebellious kids ditch their families, join together, and try and fight together to take down their own parents.

The Playlist attended a screenwriting panel with Drew Pearce (the man picked to adapt The Runaways onto the big screen, who's also co-writing Iron Man 3). The writer revealed that everything is on hold until Marvel's next big project, The Avengers launches.

"Basically, ‘The Avengers' came along and everything else at Marvel got put on hold for a year. But the script is there, we're good go," Pearce said. "It's kind of like [being] at the airport when you're waiting for your slot to take off with Marvel, and we're hoping we get a slot next year. Fingers crossed. They're very happy with it, so hopefully it happens."

At least it's hopefully STILL happening. This is a quality piece of drama and action that deserves a big shiny moment in the theaters. Here's hoping once The Avengers is released, Marvel will be able to focus in on their next awesome team-up film.

PERSONALLY.. i think the runaways is gonna be a BAD movie....

It would be better to make it like a new age X-men cartoon......... THEN go for movie status.
