This news is certainly going cause a lot of angry mascara tears. Rumor has it Dirk Diggler himself, Mark Wahlberg, is in talks to take the lead in the new Crow film. Yikes.

Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Wahlberg has been offered the lead role in the new Crow remake. We're assuming the "lead" role is whomever the reincarnation of the Crow comes back as — so yeah, that's terrible. And if you're thinking that there's no way this could work because The Crow is covered with makeup and goth-like, think again. Back in November we spoke with the producer Ryan Kavanaugh and he informed io9 that this version is going to be very different.

He'll have makeup, but it will be different. The best way to compare it is the first Batman and Batman Begins. In terms of their look and feel and character.

So Wahlberg might actually fit into the "type" they're looking for, we're just not so sure if that's what The Crow's fan base would want. Remember this isn't a remake of the original, it's a totally new film with a new main character who comes back from the dead. Last we heard from this film, Nic Cave was rewriting the script with Stephen Norrington, which was great news. So it should be interesting to see how Wahlberg fits in with Cave's vision. Then again, he could always just turn the role down.

What do you think about a Wahberg Crow?

wait, why are you telling us we should think it's awful? because he was in a film that was loosely based on John Holmes? hmm..

He's not that bad of an actor, and hell.. they could do a hell of a lot worse. I think it's pretty interesting pick.

Why so much hate for something that hasn't even been made yet... ? I mean I don't mind judgement where judgement is due, but this almost bigotry.
