If the new Bionic Woman is making you long for the old one—I sure am—I have some bad news: neither the original show or its counterpart, The Six Million Dollar Man, will be released on DVD in the U.S. anytime soon.

It's a matter of licensing, according to David Lambert at TVGuide.com. Apparently the only reason NBC was able to resurrect Jamie Sommers for the current incarnation is that neither she nor the "bionic concepts" behind her appear in Cyborg, the 1972 novel by Martin Caidin upon which The Six Million Dollar Man and its spinoff were based.
