Kill La Kill Is Coming To Toonami, Everybody Get Naked And Party

The spiritual successor to the beloved anime series Gurren Lagann, Kill La Kill will make its U.S. television debut at 12:30 p.m. on February 7th! Given how saucy the show is — that's main character in her battle outfit, and that's not even mentioning the show's revolutionary nudists — this is just a touch insane.

Directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima, Kill la Kill is about Ryuko Matsoi, a young high school student who comes to the prestigious but dangerous Honnouji Academy to find her father's killer, armed with a sentient, embarrassingly revealing schoolgirl outfit that sucks her blood and a giant pair of scissors. If you've seen any of Kill La Kill, you know how paltry this description is, but I don't want to blow people's minds. Here, just watch the original anime opening:

Given how much censoring Cartoon Network would need to do to alter Ryuko's outfit — she's in it pretty constantly — I assume they have to cool with the main character's state of undress, which I also assume means they won't need to censor the naked revolutionary group known as Nude Beach either, seeing as they also (barely) manage to keep the important bits covered. So I guess if you were wondering how much skin Toonami was willing to show after the midnight, the answer is a lot.
