John Malkovich is always entertaining to watch, and he usually picks interesting and unusual material—which is why we’re excited to hear he’s joined the cast of Valley of the Gods, from Polish filmmaker Lech Majewski. He’ll play a “reclusive trillionaire” in the fantasy tale with supernatural elements.
Majewski (who directed another intriguing actor, Rutger Hauer, in the gorgeous and weird The Mill and the Cross), also wrote the script, which Variety describes thusly:
The story features the richest man on earth, a Navajo legend and a writer (Josh Hartnett), who possesses an unbridled imagination and has the ability to alter reality. It involves three narratives about characters who attempt to escape the drama that follows when supernatural visions clash with reality.
Other than Malkovich and Hartnett, the cast includes Keir Dullea, John Rhys-Davies, Charlotte Rampling, and Skyfall’s Bérénice Marlohe. Filming is set to begin later this month.
