Machina is the directorial debut of novelist (The Beach) and screenwriter (28 Days Later, Sunshine, Dredd) Alex Garland. It's about a nerdy programmer (Domhnall Gleeson) who thinks he's lucked out when he's invited to spend a week with an Internet billionaire (Oscar Isaac) and the robot girl that lives in the billionaire's swanky mountain abode. As the trailer suggests, all is not what it seems (is it ever?) We're intrigued!

Every time I see an article about this, there's a couple seconds where I think it's an adaptation of the Ex Machina comic and I get excited.

Then I realize it's not and I get super bummed out.
