Jamie Lee Curtis is a horror icon, thanks to movies like Halloween—but she doesn’t feel any special connection to the genre, she told us when we caught up to her at San Diego Comic-Con. Although she did say she’s looking forward to turning some of the genre conventions on their heads.
But mostly—as you can see from the above video of our all-too-brief interview with Curtis—she just seems pretty excited to be in Scream Queens. She keeps saying that she’s having a blast and that it’s a lot of fun. And the main draw for her doesn’t seem to be subverting all of her old horror roles with something more knowing and ironic—but rather, just getting to work with Ryan Murphy, whose writing Curtis is a huge fan of. “I have no connection to horror at all,” she says.
Scream Queens starts Sept. 22 on Fox.
