J.K. Rowling is once again wrapped up in the world of Harry Potter, almost a decade after the publication of the series’ final book. The new play is running in London, a prequel movie is coming soon, and now we know the sequel to the prequel has already been written.
In an interview with Reuters, director David Yates provided the update on the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series. Yates directed the new Tarzan movie, but also the final four Potter films. He’s currently in post-production on Fantastic Beasts, the Rowling-scripted Potter prequel that comes out in November, and revealed that Rowling has already written part two. Here’s the clip.
We’ve long known Rowling and Warner Bros. saw Fantastic Beasts as a trilogy. So if they want to hit the previously announced November 2018 and 2020 release dates, everyone involved will pretty much have to jump right back into the next film once the previous is released. Which is a long-winded way of saying that Rowling’s progress isn’t a surprise, but it is exciting.
The first Fantastic Beasts film opens November 18. Read more about it here.
