If any one of us were currently writing and preparing to direct Star Wars: Episode IX, that would be our main focus. But none of us are J.J Abrams.

In addition to prepping one of the biggest movies ever, The Hollywood Reporter says the prolific filmmaker is shopping a new scifi TV show (called Demimonde, according to TV Line) with both HBO and Apple among the interested parties.

The show has a pretty high concept idea. Here’s how the trade reports it:

[It’s about] a family — consisting of a mother who works as a scientist, her husband and their young daughter — who all get into a terrible car crash. After the mother winds up in a coma, her daughter begins digging through her experiments in the basement and winds up transporting to another land amid a world’s battle against a monstrous, oppressive force. Her father then follows her into this new world.

If and when the show is picked up, it would be the first TV show Abrams will have has created and written since Fringe. He also created Alias and co-created Undercovers, Lost, and Felicity.

As for that title, Merrian-Webster defines “Demimonde” as “a class of women on the fringes of respectable society supported by wealthy lovers” or “a distinct circle or world that is often an isolated part of a larger world.” From the description, Abrams is most likely going with that second meaning.
