Forget the “cool guys don’t look at explosions” trope, the coolest captains blind themselves because that’s how badly they want to watch the enemy burn. The midseason finale of Star Trek: Discovery was the best episode to date, but partially because it contradicted some of its own set-up. Has Captain Lorca actually become a true Starfleet hero, or is he play-acting the role to further his own secret agenda? io9 Video looks at the final episode of Discovery’s first chapter, figures out what’s next for the mycelium-hopping ship, and dishes out some theories about Lorca’s true purpose. You can watch the video below.

This is just the end for me with io9 and current TV sci-fi. I find Katy’s bizarre reactions and alter-fiction  especially insane and unsupportable. The Klingon Sleeper idea is a fever dream pulled out of thin air. Her character analyses, plot summaries, and reviews are short sighted, mean spirited, and, I believe, envious. It seems as tho she has her own ideas of how TV Trek ought to be and wherever Discovery does not fit her preconceptions she rankles.

I’m not leaving io9, but whenever I see K.T’s byline or any other coverage of Discovery or Orville, I’ll just pass it by.
