India Is Making Its Own Game Of Thrones TV Series

When you play Rani Mahal, you win or you die. I think. Actually, all I really know is that "Rani Mahal" is the title of an upcoming Indian TV drama — which is reportedly "inspired by" George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones.

Before you freak out, you should know the show is actually set on Earth, in India, in 1857. However, there will be characters based on Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow and Cersei Lannister, so while there may or may not be dragons, there will probably be plenty of drama. One thing the show almost certainly won't have is the giant budget HBO gives it, even though Rani Mahal is being produced by Sony Pictures Television.

From left to right above: Sakshi Thanvar has been cast as the Daenerys character, while Anita Hassanandani will play Cersei, and Parth Samthaan will presumably know nothing as Jon Snow. Works for me.
