Ex Machina's Version Of The Turing Test Has A Lot Of Willy Wonka In It

Director Alex Garland's debut film, Ex Machina, follows the story of a computer coder named Caleb who, Golden Ticket-style, wins a week in the mountain house of the CEO of the company he works for. Only instead of getting the company, Caleb gets to participate in an experiment testing the capabilities of the CEO's pet project: an AI.

This featurette gives an in-depth look at the film, including the excellent effects being used to render Alicia Vikander's Ava robot. Garland also gets into the questions the film will explore, which sound like pretty typical science fiction fare, but it's fare that is always welcome on our screens. Plus, I'm dying to know the answer to Ava's question "What will happen to me if I fail your test?" And what's going on in that room of faces.

We'll find out when Ex Machina is released in the U.S. on April 10, 2015. (The U.K. will see it on January 23, 2015).
