In less than 5 minutes, learn how the Northern Lights are formed

Here's a lovely little animation by Per Byhring and the University of Oslo's Department of Physics that explains how aurora borealis lights up the northern climes. A four minutes and forty-eight seconds well spent.

This was totally the best part of living in Canada: a walk with the dogs at sunset (9:30 or so) in the summer with aurora overhead and a totally Lord of the Rings feel to the forest for the next hour or two of dusk.

On the other hand, it may have permanently destroyed my circadian rhythms, or just set them free to roam the day.

Thanks for the nostalgia trip!
