According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bill Murray will make an appearance in the upcoming reboot of Ghostbusters. The actor portrayed Dr. Peter Venkman in the original 1984 film, and was spotted in Boston, Massachusetts earlier this week, where the film is currently in production.

Murray’s role in the film is unknown as of yet: his original co-star, Dan Aykroyd, will have a cameo appearance in the film, and isn’t reprising his character from the earlier movies. Up until this point, Murray has resisted returning to the franchise, with various sources indicating that some of the delay on a third installment was due to the actor’s reluctance to get involved.

Ghostbusters is set to be released in theaters on July 22nd, 2016.

I wish people would stop assuming the hatred for this film has anything to do with the fact that there are women in the leads. The only real artistic reason to reboot/remake a film is because the people involved think they can build or eclipse the original. Otherwise it’s just about the money.

If the original team couldn’t recapture the lightening in a bottle when they made GB2, how the hell does Paul Feig think he can do it?

No one ultimately gives a shit that there are women in the lead, it’s the fact that the studio and Feig think that’s enough of a difference to warrant a reboot. Just because there are women playing the parts doesn’t mean the script is going to be better or even as good as the original, so then what is the point?

Maybe people just don’t want to see this film rebooted, period.
