Sure, teddy bears are all cute and cuddly when you see them with their fur on the outside, but just like human beings, they look a bit disturbing when flipped inside out. These photographs depict teddy bears with their pelts on the wrong way as they stare out the backs of their eyes.

These are images from artist Kent Rogowski's Bears series, in which he takes discarded teddy bears, inverts them, and then photographs them. The results are a freakish combination of cuddly and hideous, and in some cases, their formerly invisible enhancements—like squeakers and speakers—turn them into monstrous versions of their former selves. But Rogowski also notes the sad quality of the stuffed animals, which lost their owners before they became so grotesquely transformed.
