How Alien Kids Get High

Floaty bubbles carry children to the rooftops of a crazy scifi city in "Dangerous Entertainment," a picture from the mind of Russian concept artist Sergey Skachkov. According to Skachkov's CG profile this is Crater-City, from a distant planet. "This city has arisen from a fiery lava spouting out of the ground. Strange constructions of the city grow and develop in itself. But their functionality and forms are programmed by scientists. They feed on the fiery lava." Yum. Which leads to my second favorite piece of work by Skachkov, which I call, "Giant Pipe Spaceship Crashes On Snowy Planet." Click through to see his amazing gallery.

I like how you get the Norman Rockwell (idyllic and nostalgic characters - kids playing and biking) mixed in with futuro-sensational backdrops in a couple of them... especially the happy pair of humans chatting and promenading while the two-headed brain ship lumbers by in the background.
