In The Shack, the father of a murdered daughter is summoned via letter from God back to the spot where the terrible deed occurred. And now it's going to be a movie — but first, some questions.
Deadline is reporting that this Christian novel by William P. Young is getting adapted for the big screen. And possibly by the famous actor Forest Whitaker for Summit Studios. Here's the premise: A father's child is abducted and brutally murdered by a serial killer. The killer is lost and so is her body (which is just horrific). The father goes into depression until he gets a letter allegedly from God that tells him to return to the scene of the crime, the shack. So he goes, and there he meets (I think) God?
Just FYI I haven't read this book but if God summoned me back to the spot where my child was murdered, and DIDN'T bring them back to life, I would be pretty pissed. This is a pretty brutal story, the premise alone makes me pretty sad. Should be interesting to see what happens with this project.
