Goodnight to Edward "Edd" Cartier, an amazing pulp scifi illustrator who contributed to "The Shadow" as well as countless book covers, who passed away on December 25.
I have the volume of his illustrations (upstairs, and I forget the title).
His witty cartoons were part of the charm of the L. Ron Hubbard Ole Doc Methuslah stories in Astounding in the late 40's, and in my mind, his covers for "Unknown" characterize that genre.
I had assumed that he had died already.
Rest Eternal grant unto him, and may Light Perpetual shine upon him.
