Today's the 100th anniversary of the birth of fantasy master Fritz Leiber. Over at RPG blog Grognardia, they're discussing what made his work so special, including realistic characters and a sense of adventure. What's your favorite Leiber novel?
Fritz was a movie star back in the 20s and 30s. He once wrote a story, "The man who never grew young," which I always suspected was autobiographical. He never seemed to change, being always a gaunt, silver-haired old man from the first time I saw him (1968) until the last, when he allegedly died.
Personally, I think he is still around somewhere, lying low under a different name.
Fritz, when you read this, please get in touch. Mouser says, "Hi!"
