For anyone interested, Screenrant has a pretty long read that covers most of Disney’s ongoing issues with Guardians of the Galaxy and James Gunn. This particular section sums up why I also feel companies like Disney will need to change how they go about handling PR problems with the proliferation of social media as a weapon.

Social media training should become an absolute necessity for past and future members of the franchise, and the company will need to get political on some level to combat the alt-right problem. This is not exclusively a Disney problem: it’s arguable that no studio can remain 100% apolitical on any issue but particularly one like this.

It looks like Vincent D’Onofria was bummed about the news last week on Gunn not being asked to return to Guardians, and Vincent DeKnight shot down someone asking him his opinion on being asked to direct Guardians 3.

I feel like DeKnight is a good example of the problem Disney now faces. Simply put, they are probably going to have one helluva time finding a director both willing to take on the project and also talented enough to handle the thing.

Also, Dave Bautista made sure to thank Disney for their decision in his own Dave way.

Finally, in case anyone wants to check out a decent Twitter thread on Gunn, Stephen Flynn did a decent write up the other day. In case anyone is wondering who Stephen is, he’s a technical director with a lot of credits under his belt.

I would just embed the tweet, but Kinja doesn’t like me embedding anymore it seems.
