Rising Sun Pictures, the visual effects team behind Logan, has released a behind-the-scenes look at their work on the critically and commercial successful X-Men film. According to the video description, Rising Sun Pictures (which previously worked on The Wolverine) contributed about 230 shots to the film... and man oh man, those shots are bloody.

The video starts with the limo scene, which features Logan tearing off a man’s arm using his claws. Turns out, that was entirely digital. It’s kind of surreal, watching a computer program create every broken bone, pushed-out bullet, or drop of blood. And, for the most part, you can’t really tell in the end. It shows how far we’ve come, and how much further technology can go to make things icky, sticky, and gross. Check out the VFX breakdown below— unless you still haven’t seen the film, because it includes some major spoilers for the ending.
