We're really, really excited about Showtime's new drama series starring Michael Sheen as William Masters. Like, really excited. Get it?

Lizzy Caplan plays Virginia Eshelman Johnson, the other half of the famed Masters and Johnson sexology research team. So far it looks like a pretty engaging balance of drama and playful humor. More over we're deeply excited to see two of our favorite actors share the screen.

MASTERS OF SEX is a one-hour drama starring acclaimed actors Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan, who will portray the real-life pioneers of the science of human sexuality, William Masters and Virginia Johnson. The series chronicles the unusual lives, romance, and pop culture trajectory of Masters and Johnson. Their research touched off the sexual revolution and took them from a mid-western teaching hospital in St. Louis to the cover of Time magazine and nearly a dozen appearances on Johnny Carson’s couch. Caitlin Fitzgerald (It’s Complicated), Nicholas D’Agosto (Heroes), and Teddy Sears (American Horror Story) also star. Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actor Beau Bridges and Emmy Award winner Margo Martindale also star. The series is an adaptation of Thomas Maier’s book Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How to Love. The pilot was directed by Academy Award® nominee John Madden (Shakespeare in Love, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel). Produced by Sony Pictures Television, Michelle Ashford (The Pacific) and Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly (Justified, A Gifted Man) serve as executive producers.

The series will air on Showtime, September 29th.

I always get Masters & Johnson and Kinsey mixed up. I'm sexologically confused.
