Illustration for article titled Four Years of Amazing Japanese Science Fiction

Just four years ago, Haikasoru started as an imprint of Viz Comics, publishing Japanese science fiction books in translation. Now Tom Cruise is starring in a movie of All You Need is Kill, and there have been a slew of award nominations.

Over at the Haikasoru site, editor Nick Mamatas takes stock of all the triumphs of the past four years, and it's a pretty impressive list. Including the anthology The Future is Japanese, whose stories have garnered multiple nominations and inclusion in all the "Year's Best" anthologies. The Battle Royale novel has been a huge seller, and there's a Battle Royale Slam Book coming. Plus nominations for the Philip K. Dick and Shirley Jackson awards. Pretty amazing stuff. Check out the full list at the link. [Haikasoru]
