First Footage from Torchwood: Miracle Day! Plus will Eliza Dushku star in a Torchwood spinoff?

Here it is, your first ever look at the brand new Torchwood miniseries, Torchwood: Miracle Day. What will happen to the people of Earth when everyone on the planet stops dying?

Penned by some of our favorite writers, including Russell T. Davies, Jane Espenson and Doris Egan, this Torchwood series takes place partly on US soil and has also added a few American members to the cast (Bill Pullman, Mekhi Phifer). But don't worry, John Barrowman will return as Captain Jack Harkness, as will Gwen (Eve Myles).

Meanwhile, Jane Espenson tweeted that a new Torchwood webseries called Torchwood: Web of Lies would appear online at the same time as Torchwood: Miracle Day airs. And she hinted about who would be starring in this online spin-off: "We have Faith in Web of Lies. There is an Echo of my past." She also thanks Eliza Dushku directly. (Thanks to Digital Spy for the heads up!)

The first teaser footage, above, is a little short, so we've included another (older) teaser which helps break down the premise, but sadly has no actual footage!

Torchwood: Miracle Day will air on July 8 at Starz.

Is that last trailer uploaded by Starz's official channel or something? If it is, it's incredibly cheeky of them to make Torchwood stuff unavailable to view from the UK!

It looks exciting enough, but I'm hoping we can get some longer trailers soon. All these tiny cuts are appetite whetting, but I'd like to see more.
