This year's Geminid meteor shower peaked Friday, igniting early morning skies in one of the most spectacular cosmic light shows of 2013. Astrophotographer Juan Carlos Casado captured 50 meteors in this composite image of the shower raining over the Canary Islands' Teide volcano.

Geminid meteors flooded skies the world over Friday night, shining bright even against the glow emanating from last week's waxing gibbous moon. For more images of the shower, check visit Universe Today and Spaceweather's realtime photo gallery.
