Fan-Made Trailer Makes Batman Forever Look... Good?

I saw Batman Forever in a movie theater and, hunky Val Kilmer aside, pretty much haven’t ever wanted to repeat the experience. But a new fan-edited trailer for the 1995 Joel Schumacher-directed Bat-movie is sharp enough to make me reconsider.

YouTuber Sam Ibrahim uses Daft Punk music from Tron: Legacy and a keen eye for some of the most visually arresting moments in Batman Forever to cook up a clip that doesn’t make it seem like a goofy, overacted mess. While io9's own Cheryl Eddy has recently defended Schumacher’s film-making, it’s still hard to think of Batman Forever as one of the better Dark Knight movies. Thanks to one fan, at least it finally has a snappy trailer.

Batman Forever WAS good. It wasn’t GREAT, but it was good. Seeing it in the theater, the audience laughed and cheered at the triumphant moments. Sure, it’s a big-budget adaptation of the Adam West 66 Batman series, and it’s fully cheesy, loud, over-the-top, goofy, neon-colored, ridiculous and bombastic, but it was also a lot of fun. We can look back down our noses at it now, but when it was in theaters, it made a ton of money and the whole country was talking about it.
