This week get a face full of Manborg, the creepy film that takes place after the mighty hell wars! Plus a sweet little end-of-the-world rom-com, and a spooky short proves that H.P. Lovecraft is still the scare master.

We can't pull our eyes away from Manborg, perhaps it's the crazy make-up, insane premise, the pretty blue-haired lady character or the stop motion demon fights, it's just full of great low budget awesome. Plus the main character died in a fight against HELL, hell people, doesn't get anymore screwed up than that.

The film is about a soldier who gets killed fighting in a war against hell only to come back as a cyborg in the future. He then teams up with a crew of colorful characters to fight Dracula. There's going to be stop-motion monsters, arena battles and hoverbikes! And kung-fu and demon-nazi-vampires.

The Divide

Here's the first every teaser from Xavier Gens' post apocalyptic movie, which seems to be more about the people than the actual tragedy. All the better we say!

A high concept thriller that opens with pandemonium and a chaotic sprint towards the basement of a New York apartment building, just moments before the city outside is decimated…

When a cataclysmic explosion devastates New York, eight strangers take refuge in the basement of their apartment building, a converted fallout shelter designed by their paranoid superintendent Mickey. With just three connecting rooms it's barely big enough, but with stockpiles of food and water, the group are at least safe from the horrors outside, and they settle in and attempt to fathom the catastrophe that has ended the lives of so many of their loved ones.

But suddenly men in HAZMAT suits storm their shelter and open fire. The strangers join forces in a desperate bid to take on this enemy, with no one understanding what these HAZMATS are looking for and what drives them to be so merciless.

With fatalities on both sides and the remaining HAZMATS temporarily pushed back and locked out, the worst is yet to come for the group. Cabin fever sets in as the perception of the shelter shifts from safe-haven to claustrophobic rat-trap. Fear of radiation-poisoning and dwindling supplies play on their minds, while the young, beautiful Eva has more immediate worries… Her fiancé Sam is weaker than the other males, who are slowly starting to regress into ruthless, violent, predators.

As tension mounts their sanctuary becomes a living hell, and with Sam powerless to protect Eva, she must rely on her wits to save herself from becoming the mercy of the pack in a thrilling final act.

With twists and turns throughout, and no way of knowing who will make it out alive, The Fallout is an action packed psychological thriller that combines Assault on Precinct 13 with Lord of the Flies. To survive the end of the world, you first must survive each other...

I Am Single

Here's a little short that was entered by the TBALC team in New Zealand's 48 Hour Film Festival, pretty solid jokes for such little time to create, shoot and edit one short. It's a post apocalypse romantic comedy, and anything that makes fun of I Am Legend is a-ok in our book.

Azureus Rising

While we're not totally sold on this shorts' troll doll hair, we had to feature this short in this weeks cult based on the slick animation alone.

Azureus Rising is the proof-of-concept for an all new feature film trilogy. Azureus is the story of a young man who after escaping death and enduring a life changing journey - matures into a heroic freedom fighter. Azureus Rising is an epic tale of self discovery, obligation and love against all odds.

Thanks for the tip Justin.

The Statement of Randolph Carter

Based on the H.P. Lovecraft short of the same name this little animation reminded me why I keep going back to read the classic. Watch as a death row inmate narrates what really happened to his occult-loving pal one dark and gloomy night. Directed by Doug Simon.

Thanks for the tip Michael.
