Nicolas Winding Refn's next movie will be inspired by the tragic events that keep circling the Los Angeles Cecil Hotel—which was pushed into the public light last year when the body of a guest was found in the hotel's water supply.
THR is reporting that Refn is in negotiations to direct a Sony horror movie titled The Bringing, which is centered around a haunted hotel inspired by the L.A. building. The script follows a man trying to uncover the details behind the Elisa Lam death.
The tragic story of Lam is not the only strange occurrence to happen at the Cecil Hotel. The hotel was also home to the '80s serial killer known as the, "Night Stalker," and in the '50s and '60s the Cecil was known as the "suicide hotel." Plus, there have been multiple supposed hauntings spotted in the halls of the Cecil.
It's definitely an interesting story, and we'd really like to see Refn tackle horror, so we'll be keeping an eye on this story. That being said, I hope that this is just inspired by the Lam death and not a recreation, as that could be considered rather cruel to her family.
